Universal CNC CRT to LCD Installation Guide
June 2026 | Kongto Technology | Compatibility Matrix
Before You Start: Identify Your System
Before ordering a replacement, you need three pieces of information:
- CNC brand and control model (e.g., FANUC 0-TC, Mitsubishi M64)
- CRT part number (found on label on back of display)
- Connector type (count the pins or check brand-specific connector)
Connector and Power Reference
| Brand | Connector | Power | Note |
|---|---|---|---|
| FANUC | Honda MR-20M (20-pin) | DC 24V | Most common connector type |
| Mitsubishi | 20-Pin or 26-Pin | DC 24V | Check pin count before ordering |
| Mazak | 26-Pin | DC 24V | Not compatible with FANUC connector |
| Siemens | DB-25 (25-pin) | AC 110V | AC power β verify before connecting! |
| Okuma | 14-Pin or 20-Pin | DC 24V | Proprietary Okuma connector |
| Haas | 9-Pin D-Sub or 15-Pin VGA | DC 12V | Standard video connectors |
Universal Installation Steps
- Safety first: Power off CNC machine. Lock out power if available. CRT displays contain high-voltage capacitors β if unsure, have a technician handle this.
- Remove old CRT: Remove 4 corner screws on the bezel. Pull CRT forward gently. Support the unit β 9-inch CRTs weigh about 3 kg, 14-inch units can be 5+ kg.
- Disconnect cables: Unplug the video signal connector. Note which connector goes where. Take a photo for reference.
- Connect new LCD: Plug the original cable into the new LCD. The connector should fit directly β no adapters needed if you ordered the correct model.
- Mount: Use the original screw holes. The replacement LCD is designed for the same mounting pattern.
- Power on and test: Turn on the CNC. Verify the display shows correctly. No parameter changes are required.
Common Issues and Solutions
- No display after installation: Check that the connector is fully seated. Verify power is reaching the display.
- Wrong connector: If the connector does not fit, you have the wrong brand-specific model. Do not force it.
- Display works but is dim: Adjust brightness/contrast using the LCD's OSD menu.
