Haas VF Series CRT to LCD Replacement Guide
June 2026 | Kongto Technology | Compatibility Matrix
Overview
Haas VF series CNC machines from the 1990s and early 2000s used 9-inch and 12-inch amber CRTs with standard VGA or 9-pin D-Sub connectors. Unlike Japanese CNCs with proprietary connectors, Haas machines use more standard video interfaces, making LCD replacement relatively straightforward.
Compatible Models
- Haas VF-0 / VF-1 / VF-2 (9-inch amber CRT, 9-pin D-Sub)
- Haas VF-3 / VF-4 (12-inch CRT, 15-pin VGA)
- Haas Classic Control (pre-NGC, all VF series)
Connector Types by Model
| Haas Model | Connector | Power |
| VF-0/1/2 (early) | 9-pin D-Sub | DC 12V |
| VF-3/4 | 15-pin VGA | DC 12V |
Installation
- Power off CNC machine
- Remove 4 bezel screws
- Disconnect video cable and power connector
- Connect new LCD (same connectors)
- Mount and power on
Note on Haas NGC Machines
Newer Haas NGC (Next Generation Control) machines already use LCD displays. This guide applies to pre-NGC and Classic Control models only.
